Gateway to the ASEAN markets and their 600 million people.
Tax and obligations
- Corporate tax of 17 per cent, substantially reduced for newly formed companies in their first years through allowances.
- Territorial principle: foreign income can remain untaxed provided it is not remitted to Singapore.
- No capital gains tax. Over a hundred double taxation treaties.
- A Company Secretary must be appointed within six months. Small companies are exempt from the audit requirement.
Registers and transparency
The ACRA register records directors and members and is publicly searchable for a fee. That places Singapore among the more transparent locations in the catalogue.

What you need to know
At least one Singapore-RESIDENT director is mandatory — without one the company does not come into existence and does not continue. If you have nobody on the ground, that is €2,950 per year on top. And: opening an account takes up to two months. Of a three-month total, two are spent waiting for the bank.
